Artificial Intelligence can Solve These Global Problems: Healthcare, Education, Hunger, Poverty
Easy-to-follow article for all levels of educating. Discusses the use of computer algorithms to diagnose malaria instead of doctors who need to count individual parasites. By allowing a computer to find the patterns, this shortens the time of diagnosis which brings the patient to quicker treatment, thus saving lives.
Job Loss due to AI- How Bad Is It Going to Be?
Lengthy article but easy to read. Uses many examples and quotes of historical figures. Makes the point that jobs have always been replaced by machines. The article begins by making the point that technology is not inherently good or bad, it is the human that uses it that decides. One example of a positive benefit of AI is that the World Bank Group’s Global Land and Geospatial unit has sent drones to survey the land and make land plots for these women at a much cheaper rate than a team of surveyors would cost. This has given the women of Kosovo a chance to claim their land and make investments in what is rightfully theirs.
